Climate action resources

The climate crisis is unfolding rapidly and action at scale and speed is required from all of us. In 2025 we will publish the Arts Council’s Climate Action and Environmental Policy which will demonstrate our commitment to helping deliver our national climate objectives and positioning the arts as a resource for transformative change.

We will also be making specific climate and environmental training and resources available to the sector this year. In the meantime we have compiled a number of existing climate and environmental resources which may be useful in supporting you on your journey.

Climate action roadmap

The Climate Action Plan 2024 envisages the public sector leading by example on climate action to reach the target of reducing Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030 and becoming climate neutral no later than 2050.

One of the key requirements of the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate is to ensure a Climate Action Roadmap is developed by each public body annually.

The Climate Action Roadmap details how public bodies aim to meet the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate and reach its 2030 carbon and energy efficiency targets. The themes laid out in the Climate Action Roadmap are guided by SEAI guidance documentation and the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate.

These are: our people; our targets; our ways of working; and our buildings.
